Wedding Reception Decoration Ideas
So you’ve made it through the actual wedding planning in one piece, everyone is going to have a good time (or so you hope) and your looking for ideas on how to decorate a wedding reception. This is only made difficult by the fact that there are so many different decorations, themes and ideas that you can choose it can be difficult to pick one or two to go with. However for the sake of your wedding budget it is vital that you do so.
To start with, getting the right wedding favors is a must. This will be decided by your wedding theme though, for example you don’t want to be buying bamboo wedding favors for a traditionally themed wedding, neither wedding favor cds. These might be perfect though for more modern weddings. Wedding reception favors are an important part of a wedding and they need to be got right, but you also have to be careful money wise as the cost can definitely add up.
This is especially true if you have a big number of guests coming. We all dream of having a big wedding with wonderful reception favors for each and every guest, but sometimes that isn’t possible.
Probably the most important thing when trying to get wedding reception decoration ideas is to find things that are affordable. Forget ooking at the lavish wedding of Hollywood superstarts- they probably don’t fit in your budget!
A good place to start is wedding reception balloons. They are much cheaper than flowers, as well as coming in many different shapes so you can get ones that fit your theme. However they definitely aren’t as good looking as flowers, and at a more traditional wedding may not be appropriate. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t consider them though, they can be a great way to decorate your venue cheaply and effectively.
Wedding reception candles are another great idea that you can do very cheaply. There is nothing quite like candlelight to give that extra special glow to your reception, although you must be careful with the fire hazard and make sure your venue allows you to use candles. Getting a 100 or so small candles for wedding reception really won’t cost much and can be a classy way of decorating. Another spoin on candles is lanterns on the outside, although of course this only works if the reception is being held at night!
Wedding reception flowers are probably the most common form ofdecoration but the costs can really add up. If you have money in your wedding budget to spare then you might consider going for them, but if you’re on a tight budget they may not be right for you and your wedding. If you have free standing wedding reception flowers next to the tables it is a great look.
Of course all this talk of choosing decorations is goingt o be meaningless if you haven’t chosen a wedding theme. If you are being loose on your theme and not really narrowing it down to one aspect it might be harder to choose as there are so many different choices!
The main ones are listed above, but there are also wedding reception fairy lights, glass ornaments and much more to choose from. If you are going for a tropical wedding theme then bamboo favors are common and can be a fantastic way to give your wedding that special feel that we all want.
Probably the most important part of the decorations is the wedding reception centrepiece, and also the table reception decorations. These make or break how well the reception venue will look so be aware of this and choose wisely!
Knowing how to choose wedding decorations i most definitely and art and not a science, and ultimately it is your day so you should choose whatever you like best.
Decorations certainly have the power to turn even the most ordinary wedding reception venue into something astonishing worthy of even the most posh weddings, so you should take time to pick deocrations that complement the venua asmuch as possible. The decorations should also complement each other so that people don’t just see one decoration, but the whole oeveral effect. This is no easy task and is something even professional wedding designers struggle with, but that doesn’t mean you should spend your life obsessing about it. Just pick whatever seems right to you as that’s what’s important.
Wedding Reception Decoration Tips
Before deciding on any deocrations you must first visit the room or hall to see what is already there. Any decorations should complement wat the hall already has, you don’t want them to clash with each other.
You also don’t need to worry about decorating every aspect of the room, just concentrate on the most important parts such as the doorways, staircases and areas on the tables. A centrepiece at the centre of each table is a good way to add some extra uniqueness to your wedding if you haven’t got enough of that already!
Reception table decorations probably deserves a whole article on its own (who knows, maybe in the future I will write one), but here are the basics. Remember that the guests will probably be spending an extended period of time at the table, so its important to make it comfortable as well as looking great. This also means that the guests will have more time to appreciate all the effort you put into creating the decorations at each table.
The main table and guests table will probably be decorated differently so that they stand out from each other, but this isn’t essential. The tables should make an impact on the guests and be subtle enough so that it doesn’t interfere with their eating (i.e.. don’t overcrowd the wedding reception tables!). Keeping things as simple as possible is probably the best thing you can do in this sitiuation.
Remember that wedding reception decoration ideas are numerous, but choose ones that make you feel happiest. Don’t try to make them perfect, but at the same time don’t underestimate how they can affect your colour scheme.
