A wedding dress is one of the most important parts of the wedding planning process, and a lot of time goes into trying to find the perfect one. If you’ve spent hours looking through magazines, visiting shops, going through brochures and anything else you can get your hands on without finding the right kind of dress for you then you may find that designing your own dress will be a lot less effort and be the perfect solution!

There are so many options online and all over the world for a wedding dress that it’s always going to be difficult to find one that has the perfect match to what you want. If you have a dress in mind, being able to design your own wedding dress, even if that means simply shortening the arms or mixing two different dresses together can provide you with a great dress exactly as you imagine. You also have to consider your wedding and bridal makeup, but that can usually be done second.

There is no doubt that there are a lot more options when it comes to wedding dresses for brides these days. However with choice comes the inevitable problem of being overwhelmed. There is definitely a lot more slack cut to brides - wedding dresses no longer have to be purely white for example, they can be whatever colour you want.

Knowing how to design your wedding dress is a different matter though! Many women are intimidated by the thought of designing it, after all most brides have never designed a piece of clothing in their life. However if you’ve used a sewing machine before you are well on your way to being able to make your own dress. Just because it is a wedding dress doesn’t make it any more difficult to sew than any other kind of clothing - so don’t be nervous or intimated by it when designing!

First of all you need to get an idea of what is currently in fashion for wedding dresses. The best way to do this is to visit bridal shops- as many as possible - to find ones that have dresses that you like. Don’t be afraid to try the dresses on, but don’t make it too obvious that you have no intention of buying them! Look for parts of the dresses that you like, and then you can merge them together when finally doing your design a wedding gown bit when it all comes together.

Being able to design your own wedding dress is a wonderful experience. Every bride loves her dress and treasures it for the rest of her life, but there is something extra special about being able to design your dream wedding dress. If you like the look of several different dresses or gowns for example, you can take the best bits of both and incorporate them into your design making the perfect dress. Whether you are going for a beach wedding dress or something more traditional you have compelte control over the final product.

The sewing machine you create the dress on is of utmost importance. There are many options on the market, and computerized sewing machines for wedding dresses are a lot more powerful and sophisticated than before making the actual creation a lot easier and faster than it used to be.

One of the things you’ll have to decide on when designing a wedding dress is the fabric as this will dictate many other aspects of the dress. It shouldn’t be difficult to get your hands on the fabric you need - most bridal shops do sell fabrics and other parts of wedding dresses that you can use when creating. When choosing a fabric make sure to be careful about how it looks (i.e. will it crinkle easily etc) and how easy it is to work with if you are a novice designer!

Once your dress is designed and ready to go you can start adding the finishing touches such as beads, lace and other things to liven up and make a dress really stand out. Of course you can keep it simple here, and you definitely shouldn’t go over the top with the embellishments, but a few here and there subtly placed can make the difference between an average dress and a stunning one.

There is not doubt that can be a worrying prospect designing your own dress. Will it look OK? Will I mess up the stitching? Will people laugh? The main thing is to remember to have fun - this is your wedding and if you want a wedding dress that fits yo perfectly and is exactly how you imagined then design your own wedding dress may be the way to go. That doesn’t mean you can’t take advice from others though - especially professional designers who may be able to point you in the right direction and tell you if you are going wrong.

Remember that design a wedding dress process is a long one so you need to start early! The sooner the better, as there is plenty to plan when it comes to a wedding and you definitely don’t want to be rushing the wedding dress design at the end or it could turn into disaster.

So you’ve made it through the actual wedding planning in one piece, everyone is going to have a good time (or so you hope) and your looking for ideas on how to decorate a wedding reception. This is only made difficult by the fact that there are so many different decorations, themes and ideas that you can choose it can be difficult to pick one or two to go with. However for the sake of your wedding budget it is vital that you do so.

To start with, getting the right wedding favors is a must. This will be decided by your wedding theme though, for example you don’t want to be buying bamboo wedding favors for a traditionally themed wedding, neither wedding favor cds. These might be perfect though for more modern weddings. Wedding reception favors are an important part of a wedding and they need to be got right, but you also have to be careful money wise as the cost can definitely add up.

This is especially true if you have a big number of guests coming. We all dream of having a big wedding with wonderful reception favors for each and every guest, but sometimes that isn’t possible.

Probably the most important thing when trying to get wedding reception decoration ideas is to find things that are affordable. Forget ooking at the lavish wedding of Hollywood superstarts- they probably don’t fit in your budget!

A good place to start is wedding reception balloons. They are much cheaper than flowers, as well as coming in many different shapes so you can get ones that fit your theme. However they definitely aren’t as good looking as flowers, and at a more traditional wedding may not be appropriate. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t consider them though, they can be a great way to decorate your venue cheaply and effectively.

Wedding reception candles are another great idea that you can do very cheaply. There is nothing quite like candlelight to give that extra special glow to your reception, although you must be careful with the fire hazard and make sure your venue allows you to use candles. Getting a 100 or so small candles for wedding reception really won’t cost much and can be a classy way of decorating. Another spoin on candles is lanterns on the outside, although of course this only works if the reception is being held at night!

Wedding reception flowers are probably the most common form ofdecoration but the costs can really add up. If you have money in your wedding budget to spare then you might consider going for them, but if you’re on a tight budget they may not be right for you and your wedding. If you have free standing wedding reception flowers next to the tables it is a great look.

Of course all this talk of choosing decorations is goingt o be meaningless if you haven’t chosen a wedding theme. If you are being loose on your theme and not really narrowing it down to one aspect it might be harder to choose as there are so many different choices!

The main ones are listed above, but there are also wedding reception fairy lights, glass ornaments and much more to choose from. If you are going for a tropical wedding theme then bamboo favors are common and can be a fantastic way to give your wedding that special feel that we all want.

Probably the most important part of the decorations is the wedding reception centrepiece, and also the table reception decorations. These make or break how well the reception venue will look so be aware of this and choose wisely!

Knowing how to choose wedding decorations i most definitely and art and not a science, and ultimately it is your day so you should choose whatever you like best.

Decorations certainly have the power to turn even the most ordinary wedding reception venue into something astonishing worthy of even the most posh weddings, so you should take time to pick deocrations that complement the venua asmuch as possible. The decorations should also complement each other so that people don’t just see one decoration, but the whole oeveral effect. This is no easy task and is something even professional wedding designers struggle with, but that doesn’t mean you should spend your life obsessing about it. Just pick whatever seems right to you as that’s what’s important.

Wedding Reception Decoration Tips

Before deciding on any deocrations you must first visit the room or hall to see what is already there. Any decorations should complement wat the hall already has, you don’t want them to clash with each other.

You also don’t need to worry about decorating every aspect of the room, just concentrate on the most important parts such as the doorways, staircases and areas on the tables. A centrepiece at the centre of each table is a good way to add some extra uniqueness to your wedding if you haven’t got enough of that already!

Reception table decorations probably deserves a whole article on its own (who knows, maybe in the future I will write one), but here are the basics. Remember that the guests will probably be spending an extended period of time at the table, so its important to make it comfortable as well as looking great. This also means that the guests will have more time to appreciate all the effort you put into creating the decorations at each table.

The main table and guests table will probably be decorated differently so that they stand out from each other, but this isn’t essential. The tables should make an impact on the guests and be subtle enough so that it doesn’t interfere with their eating (i.e.. don’t overcrowd the wedding reception tables!). Keeping things as simple as possible is probably the best thing you can do in this sitiuation.

Remember that wedding reception decoration ideas are numerous, but choose ones that make you feel happiest. Don’t try to make them perfect, but at the same time don’t underestimate how they can affect your colour scheme.

Getting the right wedding favor can be a difficult task, there’s no doubt about it. Not only have you got to try and pick something that hundreds of people will like and enjoy, but you’ve got to do it at a price that won’t break the bank and your wedding budget! If you go for a simple, traditional favor like a sugar cube or suigared almond then this isn’t such a problem, but if you try to get something more exotic like a bamboo wedding favor then you could run into monetary problems before you get to the wedding.

So does this mean you should give up on wedding favors? Even simple gifts like a single chocolate can be very welcome from your guests, and it is becoming more and more expeted of the couple to provide a favor. However it is safe to say that no one will complain if you don’t have wedding favors, so the choice is completely up to you! If we’re honest, whether you have favors or not isn’t going to affect whether you make to your 25th wedding anniversary or not, that’s for sure.

If you are really strapped for cash but do definitely want to get a wedding favor for your guests, then it may be an idea to get a small gift for each table at the reception rather than one for each and every guest. This means the favors can be more substantial, but of course it isn’t ideal as only a small percentage of your guests will actually be able to keep them.

A good wedding favor in a perfect world would be one that each guest treasures and keeps. In reality, this isn’t always possible, so don’t get too hung up on whether your guests will treasure the faor or not, just make sure they are welcome at the time to help with the mood of the wedding.

Once you’ve had your wonderful day, the wedding has gone well (hopefully), the guests were well behaved, no one made a fool of themselves and the dress managed to get through unscathed. If that’s the case, then you may want to consider a wedding dress preservation service to make sure your dress is kept in top form for the future. They will clean and shape your dress so that it is in good condition, and then store it in a specially made box to keep it safe for the future. OK, so you probably won’t be wearing it again any time soon but it is a fantastic memory to look on in the future to remind you of the day of your marriage.

If you’ve already had your wedding and didn’t go for a preservation service, chances are your dress might have seen better days. Not to worry though, there are plenty of wedding dress restoration services around that may be able to fix up your dress to look as good as new. In most cases these won’t be specialist wedding dress restorers, but fabric restorers, so make sure you go for one that is confident it can fix your dress without anything going wrong. Vintage wedding dress restoration is another matter, although it is a similar process just with more care needed to be applied due to the age of the dresses.

The wedding gown restoration process usually involved treating the fabric to remove any stains and the yellow or brown colour which comes from the years of being stored in a cupboard. This happens because the gown fabric oxidses if it isn’t stored in the right sort of contained meaning it loses its whiteness over a long period of time. Of course if you don’t have a white wedding dress but a darker one then you probably won’t have this problem.

Once the gown has been treated to remove the discoloration it is then dried and re cleaned to remove any stains that may be on it. Most services will then press the dress and store it in a safe container.

It’s important to remember that your wedding dress is a reminder of a special day, and as your memories fade over time the dress colour doesn’t have to ! It’s also important to make sure you know who you are entrusting your dress to, as in the wrong hands something could easily go wrong leaving you with a stained dress. Most professionals won’t have any problems at all doing wedding dress restoration though.

The better wedding gown restoration services will also treat the dress so that there is long lasting protection of the dress.

Wedding dresses are very special to all women who get married, and it’s a shame that so many of them end of shoved in a cupboard becoming yellower and browner. So dig out your wedding dress and get it restored, you won’t be sad you did!

Getting the perfect wedding isn’t as hard as it used to be! In the past, if you wanted something different you had to travel around to find a shop that sells it, or go on recommendations from others. Today you can now fire up the internet and browse hundreds of different wedding opportunities, such as butterfly wedding favors and bamboo wedding favors in minutes. That makes it a lot easier to get what you want, but also includes the dilemma of too much choice!

For example if you search in google for Butterfly wedding favors you will return literally thousands of results, many of them catering to a different kind of butterfly, shape, material, use, anything you can think of.

For example you can get Butterfly wedding bubble favors which are bottles containing bubble fluid contained within a lid that is shaped as a butterfly. This is a great idea for a wedding because not only does it look fantastic, but it also provides the guests with some extra fun (if your weeding isn’t fun enough already!).These particular items that I’m looking at are around $6.80 for 8, which is a very reasonable price, although if you’re having a large wedding this could add up to something substantial quite quickly so watch out for that.

Another idea would be a butterfly favor box that could contain some sort of sweet or chocolate inside. Another great idea would be to put an almond inside to get the mix of modern and traditional favors although of course you could put whatever you wanted inside.

Sometimes wedding favor suppliers have a limit on the minimum number you can order, in this case it was 36 pieces, which isn’t too low that most weddings will get to that number of guests.

Wedding favors are one of the best ways to show your appreciation to the guests for coming to your wedding ceremony, and if you are having a natural theme a butterfly favor may fit perfectly with what you are trying to do.

Another type of butterfly wedding favor you could consider is the crystal one. This is purely for show and doesn’t contain anything, but is actually pretty enough that some guests may be willing to take it home to use as a decoration. This means they’ll remember your special day everytime they look at it! However often these are more expensive, but should definitely be considered if you are having a small wedding or are planning on splashing out a lot of cash on your favors. Of course they ones on the internet aren’t real crystal - but if you happen to be a millionaire then perhaps that’s an option! For the rest of us, glass will definitely suffice.

Before buying your butterfly favors you need to first make sure that it fits your theme. You don’t want them to look out of place and a well organised wedding will have the whole of the ceremony and reception matching in appearance. Of course, if you aren’t that bothered about your theme and just want your guests to have something pretty (apart from yourself) then butterflies are a wonderful choice of animal to put on the tables while everyone is eating.

You also need to be very aware of price. Before planning your wedding favors you need to know at least roughly how many people are attending so you can see if you can actually afford to buy so many butterflies. It’s better to know in advance that you can’t than find out you don’t have enough for everyone on the day! Alternatively if you are on a ight budget you could put a favor on each table but not for each guest which may work just as well.

The most important thing about the wedding favor is to get your guests talking and to give them something different. If you aren’t worried about sticking with a traditional favor then a butterfly wedding favor may be perfect for your special guests on your special wedding day.

If your a bride to be looking for the perfect wedding dress, it can be easy to spend lots of time looking at expensive wedding dresses wondering whether you can afford them or whether your man will be able to get it for you. It’s only natural that we want the most expensive, most exclusive dress - we all want our wedding to be unique after all! When we see footballers wives walking in ridiculously expensive dresses down the aisle then it’s no difficult to imagine ourselves doing the same thing in the overpriced gown.

Here’s a case in point: some wedding dresses have been known to cost up to £15,000! To some that is nearl a years wages, which makes dresses like this seem completely out of reach. But are they really worth it? Is your big day really about how much money has been spent or how happy you are?

I for one don’t think that an expensive wedding dress = fantastic wedding. You can get a wonderful dress, perfectly fitted and stuningly beautiful for as little as a £100, sometimes even less. There doesn’t seem any sense putting yourself into thousands of pounds worth or debt just to get a single dress that wil be worn on a single day.

Anyway, isn’t it much more important that you are your parter are happy for many years to come? The stress of debt for a wedding, whether it is the dress, reception or anything else is not worth it in most cases.

Also, if you design a wedding dress it can be much more rewarding and a lot cheaper than buying an expensive dress.

That doesn’t mean that we can’t admire the beautiful expensive dresses on offer though, as long as we only buy them if we can truly afford them!

Tips On Buying Expensive Dresses

If you have your heart set on getting a top of the range designer dress, then there rae ways of geting them for less of a price than you would think. However they are still going to be ery expensive!

You can look for them second hand. you could do this by going into second hand shops and seeing if they have any of the designer dresses available, or you could look on internet sites such as ebay. However in the latter example you won’t be able to try on the dress so you might not want to take this route.

Go for last years designs! I know I know, you want the most fashionable design around, but if you go for last years designs you can get them for up to half price off. Surely that must be worth being slightly out of date!

The real secret is though that most of the expensive wedding dresses are only expensive because they have a designer label, not because they are any better made ore more fashionable than much cheaper options. Because of this it seems amost madness for celebrities to shell out this kind of money, yet they still do, probably just because they can.

You can’t help wondering what better causes the money could be going to, althoguh you could say that about a lof ot things I suppose.

So you’ve got the wedding planned. Three hundred guests are coming, the catereres are ready, the reception hall is booked, the band are coming althoguh their bass player is ill at the moment, the invitations have been sent, the flowers are ready, the wedding dress has been designed, the ring is ready etc…..is there anything else you could possibly think about without having your mind explode?

Unfortunately, yes. The wedding favor is an often overlooked part of the ceremony but having a unique wedding favor such as bamboo wedding favors can make a big difference between an average wedding and one that is that little bit extra special. Choosing a wedding favor can be tricky though. What can you possibly give to every guest that will suit an entire age range, background range and culture range? They are only meant to be a small gift, but there is no point getting them if they aren’t going to add to the theme of the wedding and if they’re not going to be enjoyed by the guests.

Usually, people want unique and strange wedding favors. That’s were CD wedding favors come in. These are just simply a CD that either contains music or more often pictures that somehow related to the couples life so far and how it will continue. They are great at the ceremony because a lot of your friends will be genuinely impressed by them, especially ones that are filled with pictures of your life - often that include them too!

CD wedding favors are a great way to get people to remember your wedding too. If you get them some sugard almonds which is tradition, that’s great but they are hardly going to remember it several years later. With a CD they will always be coming across it which helps to keep in mind your wedding. I really like CD wedding favors for this reason.

How Much Do They Cost?

Like any wedding favors it is the sheer quantity that ends up making the price so large. It’s difficult to put an exact price on the cds because it depends on various factors such as ow elaborate the cover design is, how thick the cover book as and what kind of cd you go for. It also depends on teh vendor as some will be more pricy than others - of course this is the same for any kind of wedding favor and is more general advice.

Are There Different Types?

Most of the companies that sell cd wedding favors will allow you to choose between various templates. Some are romantic, some modern, some jazzy and some more serene. This is great because it means you can match them to your overall wedding theme giving a great sense of continuity. You don’t want to have a very stylish and traditional wedding and then an over the top wedding favor, it just wouldn’t fit and would leave people wondering if there is any kind of theme to your wedding at all.

I personally prefer the more fun cds if they fit your wedding theme. It can be quite embarassing having a cd of pictures if they are ultra serious, its much better to make it into a fun thing that everyone can enjoy rather than expecting all your wedding guests to spend their time saying “aren’t they beautiful?”.

Can I just get them for weddings?

No! CD favors are available for all kinds of different events, and can be a great addition to any large gaterhing of friends. For example they might be used at a party or other social gathering. It’s probably best to save them for special occasions though, such as 21st birthdays or anniversaries.

What Other Favors Are available?

Apart from cd wedding favors there are plenty of others to choose from. Some of these are traditional while others are much more unique and unusual. Check back here for more ideas. In the future I’ll be going through other favors such as irish, tropical and mexican. These can be as interesting as they sound if done correctly!

The most important thing about wedding favors is that the guests enjoy it on the day, so you might want to have some facility to watch the CD while there.

Wedding favors are usually small (bu not always) gifts that are given ti gusests by the bride and grrom as a show of appreciation for their support. This is a long dating tradition, and is practiced around the world. This article will be a guide to a certain type of favors - bamboo wedding favors - but there are plenty of other kinds that you will be able to find on this site in the future.

The History Of Bamboo Wedding Favors

It is a common belief that the very first wedding favors originated in Europe although they were not known as favors in those days. They date back to several hundred years ago, although no one knows exactly how long ago they began to appear. At this stage the favors were usually some kind of boxes containing sugar as suygar was in short supply at this time and hence was expensive. Sugar was also meant to show wealth and in some cases royalty. Of course today sugar is much cheaper and your guests would probably be a bit surprised if they sat down to a solitary sugar cube as a gift!

Some other forms of wedding favors that have been used down the years were almonds which signified the couples new life, sugared almonds (combining the sugar and the almond part of the favors), and other expensive items.

Today these items have come to be known as wedding favors and are found around the world. They have become a big art of wedding planning and hence there is now big business in manufacturing wedding favors for wholesale prices. They can become very expensive, and are often personalised with the couples names. They are not considered essential but do add a nice touch to the wedding. Common wedding favors include the classic sugared almonds and small metallic gifts.

Bamboo wedding favors are a relatively new addition to weddings in the West but there is now a large market for them as they are different to the average gifts.

Types Of Bamboo Favors

The most common form of bamboo wedding favors is the small bamboo shoots in jars. It is desirable to make sure they are eco friendly of you are a eco friendly person.

There are many kinds of bamboo plants tthat you can give such as the 2 tier tower, straight and Fu Lo Soh. These all symbolise different things, which the vendor should be able to tell you. Make sure you know exactly what you are buying and how many you are buying before you settle on a price as these items can add up fast. Often you can get individual plants for around $0.40 - $1.00, which might not seem like much but it soon adds up.

What To Look For

Make sire you look for wedding favors that are live, green and most importantly look healthy! You don’t want several hundred guests turning up to dead or dying bamboo plants - that definitely wouldn’t set the right tone for the wedding at all! Also take some time to look at the pots and pick the ones that will suit your wedding theme the best.

Most importantly look for plants that you would be happy to see at someone elses marriage. Would you be impressed by the bamboo plants you are seeing? If so, then that is probably the plant for you!

There are different kind of pots to get for the bamboo plants - some more expensive than others. You don’t have to go overboard with the pot, as lond as there is enough soil for the plant to be healthy for the wedding.

An important thing to remember is not order the bamboo wedding favors too early. You don’t want to be worrying about them not turning up at all, but you also want to make sure they are fresh when they get to the wedding. Ask your vendor what is their recommended time frame for getting the plants to you and then base your planning around that. The company should be able to give you a solid delivery date as well as an estimation of how long their plants will stay healthy once they arrive.

You could also consider geting a larger bamboo center piece for the centre of each table. This adds a nice touch to the wedding and can give a more consistent theme throughout the wedding.

You also need to make sure that a bamboo plant will match with your “design a wedding dress” creation! This shouldn’t be a major problem but it is something you should keep in mind.

There is a lot to think about when planning a wedding, and bamboo plants can be a great way to get one of these worries out of your mind. They look great, your guests will love them and they are something a “bit different”. Whether you go for a centre piece bamboo plant or many smaller wedding favors, it can add a refreshing and almost tropical feel to your wedding.

Just make sure that they match your overall theme AND are within your budget. There is no need to go overboard and buy expensive favors, they are an added extra and everyone will understand if you don’t get them. The day is about you after all.

With that said many guests do appreciate even the smallest favor, and bamboo wedding favors can be a fantastic way to thank them for supporting you and your partner in your new life!

Designing your own wedding dress can make a wedding even more personal and unique. There is nothing quite like walking down the aisle as a bride knowing that everyone is admiring the dress that you designed! Of course there is the down side that if things go wrong, they can go horribly wrong. If you follow the tips below hopefully you’ll come out with a wedding dress to be proud of.

If you’ve spent hours and hours looking for the perfect dress but never finding one that quite fits your description, then designing a wedding dress may be the perfect answer.

1. If you aren’t a practiced designer yourself, you need to find someone who can bring your designs to life. There is nothing more frustrating than having the ultimate dress concept in your head except being unable to realise it because you don’t have a skilled designer to get what you want. I would recommend getting a paid desinger at this stage, because they will not take it personally if you don’t like the dress they create for you.

2. You need to start planning the dress early, but at the same time you need to at least know the theme of the wedding before you can really start to find a dress that fits around it. Start collecting cuttings, pictures, colours, anything that might be udea in an idea for a wedding dress. There are plenty of wedding dress websites and magazines where you can look at previous designs to get ideas.

3. An important part of the design process is choosing the fabric of the dress. If you want silk you’ll have to pay more for the material and the skilled worker to create it. There are less expensive options if you would prefer though.

4. Remember this is your wedding - you don’t have to stick to tradition if you don’t want to! You could go for a dark, stunning colour if you wanted. Just make sure it dits the theme.

5. Work out what you want from a dress. Do you want it to be traditional? Racy? Sexy? You need to make these big decisions first before deciding on the subtle features of the dress.

6. Choose a dress shape that best suits your body size and shape. The great hting about being able to design a wedding dress is that the professional designer should be able to fit the dress specifically for you.

7. Even if you don’t plan on buying a store bought dress, you can always go and try them on to see which ones suit you best. You’ll be able to get an idea of the embroidery, body shape and colours that you would like. This can help immensely and can also be a lot of fun!

8. Consider adding extras to your dress such as crystals, lace and beads. These add cost to the dress but can really help a dress to stand out and become unique.

Most of all, you need to make sure you give yourself plenty of time when it comes to designing the dress. Get opinoins from all kinds of drss professionals, and don’t be afriad or too proud to ask for help. There is a lot to think about, and for someone who has never designed a dress before it can be a daunting task!

Giving yourself the maximum amount of time to plan the dress can be the difference between a stunning success and en embarrassing failure. This is definitely something you don’t want to rush otherwise there could be disastorous consequences. A unique wedding dress can really add something extra to a wedding though and can be a wonderful thing to do. Hopefully this has given you some idea on how to design a wedding dress, now get to work!
